What are 10 things you want to say out loud but you can't?
Submitted by alix.
1. No.
2. Please stop talking.
3. Driving a large truck does not equal having the right of way.
4. Being asked to accomodate others does not mean you're being persecuted.
5. Spelling counts. Grammar counts too. If you use the word "incentivize" in speech or writing I will stick a fork in your eye.
6. I can't help you with your writing unless you're willing to listen to criticism. Just writing is not cause for congratulation.
7. I love my cats, but please don't buy me things with cats on them (unless they're really cool).
8. Most things are not about you (or about me, either).
9. The mainstream sucks.
10. We are human only to the extent that we are humane.

If your Vox Neighborhood had a potluck dinner tonight, what dish, drink or dessert would you bring?
Okay, I don't make this much because it's eeeeevilllll...in a good way. By which I mean I can't stop eating it until I roll off the couch, groaning, in a tater coma.
Tater Tot Casserole
You can divide this recipe into 2 or 3 freezer-to-oven-safe casserole dishes and bake one and freeze the rest; to bake I put the frozen dish into the cold oven and then turn on the heat to avoid thermal shock. I usually add frozen green beans to give this dish some redeeming value. A thawed bag of shredded hash browns makes a nicer looking dish for formal occasions.
1 package tater tots
8 oz sour cream (or more depending on your taste)
1 can Campbell's cream of potato soup
2 cups cheese, shredded (or more depending on your taste)
Preheat oven to 350.
Mix 1 cup of cheese, sour cream and soup together.
Add tater tots. Mix well.
Pour into a 9 by 13 greased casserole dish.
Cover with cheese.
Bake at 350 for 45 minutes or so. You may want to cover with foil the last 10 to 15 minutes of baking to keep from getting too brown.

Are you a registered organ donor? Why or why not?
Submitted by jacolily.
I signed up to be an organ donor when I got my Georgia driver's license--the crusty sargeant behind the desk said "Do you want to be an organ donor?" and I said "Yes--" then started laughing because no, really, I'm not looking forward to handing over my parts in any way "want" might imply, it's more a matter of "if called upon I will serve", but the sargeant didn't see the humor in it and demanded "Do you want to be an organ donor or not?" so I had to say "Yes" again, but I'm still hoping no one will need one of my kidneys until I'm done with it.

My good imaginary food tv boyfriend (even if he does want me to measure in grams):
Alton Brown gave the best book signing I ever attended, on his feet and happy to meet me, even though I was signee #98 out of 130 or so.
This is our local cake queen:
Sometimes people say my cakes are better than hers, which is nice to hear even if it's comparing Fancy Bakery Baking (hers) with Plain Home Baking (mine).
I envy Sylvia Weinstock's cakes:
